iPod The invention of the iPod took the world by storm changing the way the world listened to music. In October 2001 the first iPod was introduced to the world by Apple's own Steve Jobs. This was a new way to take your entire music collection with you. Prior to the iPod there was no easy option to listen to all your music on the go. The clunky walkman required you to carry discs with you to change the music, walking the disc tended to skip causing the music to stop. The iPod was invented to bring a better MP3 player to the market. Apple was able to take the iPod from idea to launch in one year. The man who was credited with the idea was Tony Fadell who worked at Apple. The original iPod had a mechanical wheel where you would scroll through the music library.
